The Day the Votes Were Counted

The Day the Votes Were Counted

No cars were on the road that day.
Children never so quiet at play.
Voices few were hushed and low.
Politicians filled with woe,
The day the votes were counted.

No sound was coming from the mill.
All the trucks were parked and still.
Women hadn't bothered with makeup.
The old order was about to break up,
The day the votes were counted.

School teachers were no longer grading.
Stockbrokers had quit their trading.
The exchanges all shut down.
Bankers thought of leaving town,
The day the votes were counted.

Self-made heroes stopped their bragging.
Talking heads had ceased their wagging.
Apostles of anger and merchants of fear,
Suddenly found they had nobody's ear,
The day the votes were counted.

Newspapers were left unread.
Money-changers shook with dread.
Government planners shelved their plans.
Established parties were "also-ran"s,
The day the votes were counted.

Common folks were praying and fasting,
Wanting a government true and lasting,
Judges held by in check by bridles,
Not respecting men or idols,
The day the votes were counted.

Fear of the LORD had swept the land,
Repentance finally stayed His hand,
Greed and seduction lost their appeal.
People were thirsting for something real,
The day the votes were counted.

The wisdom of man had tried and failed,
God and His Law would now be hailed.
His kingdom would come,
His will would be done,
The day the votes were counted.

If two of you shall agree on earth
as touching any thing that they shall ask,
it shall be done for them
of my Father which is in heaven.
(Matthew 18:19)

All glory to the Father,
We see Him through the Son.
Once our hearts are His alone,
The victory will be won.

When time has ceased,
We've been released,
And up to Heaven mounted,

All else brought low,
By then we'll know,
It's the only vote that counted.

Politicians promise -- but Jesus delivers!

For a Child is born; to us a Son is given; and the government is on His shoulder; and His name is called Wonderful, Counselor, The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

There is no end to the increase of His government and of peace on the throne of David, and on His kingdom, to order it, and to sustain it with justice and with righteousness, from now and forever. The zeal of Jehovah of Hosts will do this. (Isaiah 9:6-7)
