Heavenly Father,

You are the Lord of all, Maker of the Universe, the Righteous Judge of Everything.

We have sinned.

We failed to love You.

We turned our backs on Your laws, precepts, statutes and judgments.

We failed to love our neighbors, those people made in Your image.

We erected idols and served them.

We have been proud.

We have been greedy.

We have murdered, robbed and raped. We've committed adultery, fornication and all manner of perversion. We've harmed innocent little children, and caused them to stumble.

Not only have we done and tolerated all these things -- we called it good.

We have forgotten Your promises.

Because of sin our nation is brought very low.

Calamity looms.

Have mercy on Your people Father! Grant us repentance!

Help us to turn from our wickedness.

Only with Your help can we mend our ways.

Change these hearts of stone into soft, living flesh in love with You.

Thank You for your rod of chastening, that turns us back to You. May it work quickly. Thank you for your mercy in not destroying us completely.

Thank you for the indescribable gift of Your Son, Who makes it possible for all these sins to be blotted out and forgotten.

Lead us out of captivity and restore the promise of America.

In the authority of our Redeemer Christ Jesus we ask these things.

So be it!

What is your prayer for America?

For a Child is born; to us a Son is given; and the government is on His shoulder; and His name is called Wonderful, Counselor, The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

There is no end to the increase of His government and of peace on the throne of David, and on His kingdom, to order it, and to sustain it with justice and with righteousness, from now and forever. The zeal of Jehovah of Hosts will do this. (Isaiah 9:6-7)
