What would Jesus do -- if elected President?

This question is likely to raise more debate than any other in the campaign. The reason? There are so many different Jesuses in the minds of people. How many really know Him? Who can know the mind of God?

One thing is certain: it wouldn't be business as usual. Everything would change.

Assuming He was elected, and He elected to make an appearance, it would be the end of government by man.

Some might imagine a poor Jesus organizing U.N. relief missions to Africa and washing feet in the West Wing.

Get a clue! He's not coming back to be crucified again.

He's been here and done that.

The Sacrificial Office has been fulfilled. (HalleluYah!)

When Christ returns it will be as conquering King.

Read the book called Revelation, the Apocalypse of the Apostle John. Read the parable of the Landowner, Who said:

But these hostile to me, those not desiring me to reign over them, bring them here and execute them before me. (Luke 19:27)

Do you know that Jesus?

Now listen to this warning, you kings; learn this lesson, you rulers of the world: Serve the LORD with fear; tremble and bow down to him; or else his anger will be quickly aroused, and you will suddenly die. (Psalms 2:10-12)

Setting priorities

The first order of business is to recognize Who is in charge.

In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths. (Proverbs 3:6)

America has failed to acknowledge the Lord of the Universe. That failure is begining to prove expensive.

Some claim that the Constitution for the United States was divinely inspired. No doubt God was at work in the affairs of men at the founding of this nation. But more shouldn't be made of it than what it is.

The Constitution is simply a charter. It contains some good ideas to help control the powers and ambitions of men. But it is not self-enforcing, and it has failed to prevent the ambitious from taking control.

We believe the Constitution is fundamentally flawed because it does not acknowledge the lordship of Jesus Christ.

Therefore, the Constitution should be amended by adding something like the following:

We recognize Jesus Christ as the Lord of the Universe Who provides all we have and rewards the people who obey Him. We seek His blessings by attempting to follow His will, and pray for His help to do so.

Suggest improvements to this language.

What will this accomplish?

Perhaps you've heard the old joke: What do you call a hundred lawyers on a boat sunk to the bottom of the ocean?

A good start.

This simple amendment is nothing more than a start in the right direction.

It's not a panacea. People's hearts still need to change. We still need a legislature and other institutions to manage a limited government.

But failure to seek the will of God as a nation has brought this country to the brink of the precipice.

It's not too late to turn.

Politicians promise -- but Jesus delivers!

For a Child is born; to us a Son is given; and the government is on His shoulder; and His name is called Wonderful, Counselor, The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

There is no end to the increase of His government and of peace on the throne of David, and on His kingdom, to order it, and to sustain it with justice and with righteousness, from now and forever. The zeal of Jehovah of Hosts will do this. (Isaiah 9:6-7)
